New Toyota Camry Hybrid to be launched in India tomorrow

The new-gen Camry has adopted a whole new design language with added features.

– It will compete against the likes of Honda Accord Hybrid, Skoda Superb and Volkswagen Passat.

Toyota will launch the all-new Camry in India tomorrow. The new Camry has adopted a modern design language along with an enhanced feature list. The new Camry is bigger than the model it replaces and it also has a revised feature list.

The new-gen Camry is now based on the versatile TNGA platform which also underpins all modern day Toyotas. In terms of appearance, the new Camry is now a lot more aggressive than before with a gaping grille up front similar to the Lexus’ spindle grille. The imposing fascia has a large air-dam with horizontal louvres for lower grille and a sleek upper grille. Toyota calls it the new ‘Keen Look’ design language.

The sleek and swept-back LED headlights sports three-bar DRLs. The profile is simple with clean lines. The rear houses a sleeker pair of taillights along with a petite lip spoiler. The 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels are simple and match the overall appeal of the Camry.

On the inside, the cabin of the Camry is now modern in terms of design and features. The centre console is dominated by a new eight-inch touchscreen unit which has all the connectivity features. There is soft-touch material present all around with features like wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, and powered seats. When launched, it will also be one of the safest cars in its segment with no less than 10 airbags and a host of active and passive safety equipment.

Powering the new Camry is the same 2.5-litre hybrid-petrol powertrain as the older car. The four-cylinder petrol engine produces 175hp/221Nm which is mated to an 88kW electric motor. The 208bhp power from the drivetrain is sent to a six-speed CVT automatic transmission. The new Toyota Camry will continue to rival against the likes of Honda Accord Hybrid, Skoda Superb and Volkswagen Passat.
